Seshat's Record presents Women Of The Sound Retreat — an annual gathering for the women shaping the music industry, hosted in New Orleans during Essence Festival weekend.
This is a curated retreat for 12 female music industry professionals. Executives, managers, A&Rs, producers, attorneys, publishers, marketing leads, founders, and the women whose decisions move the industry forward.
For three nights, we step out of the city we work in and into the city the culture comes to. Real conversation in spaces designed for it. Real connection with peers operating at the same level. Real time to think, plan, breathe, and build alongside women who actually understand the work — over an Essence weekend that doesn't get repeated.
THE RETREAT INCLUDES:
3 nights in a curated New Orleans short-term rental (private bedrooms, shared common spaces, premium accommodations)

FAQ
Who is this retreat for? Female music industry professionals operating at a serious level — executives, managers, A&Rs, producers, publishers, attorneys, marketing leads, founders, and the women whose work shapes the industry. This retreat is not for fans, hobbyists, or aspiring industry professionals.
Why is approval required? This is a curated peer cohort. Each woman selected impacts the value of every other woman in the room. We curate the cohort to ensure diversity of role, sector, and seniority — building the kind of peer network you cannot construct on your own.
Is the application free? Yes. Applications are reviewed at no cost. Payment is only required after acceptance.
When will I know if I'm accepted? Applications are reviewed in waves. The final cohort is confirmed approximately 30 days before the retreat — by June 6 at the latest. You'll receive acceptance, conditional acceptance (with feedback), or a polite decline.
Are flights included? No. Each guest is responsible for her own travel to and from New Orleans. We can recommend hotels for early arrivals if you'd like to extend your trip.
What if my company would like to sponsor or send multiple team members? Group inquiries are welcome. Please indicate company sponsorship interest on your application. Multi-attendee partnerships from a single company are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Will I have my own room? Each woman is assigned a private bedroom in our curated rental. Common spaces (living room, kitchen, dining) are shared with the cohort — by design. The shared spaces are where the magic happens.
What's the dress code? Smart casual for daytime programming. Sunday evening dinner and Saturday Essence festivities call for elevated casual. Bring what makes you feel like yourself and powerful in it.
Can I bring a guest? This retreat is for confirmed cohort members only. Plus-ones are not accommodated. If a peer from your network would benefit from this experience, encourage her to apply for the same or future cohort.
